The L200 series is powered by a 2.2 Litre MIVEC 16-Valve intercooled turbocharged DOHC Common Rail Direct Injection Diesel engine. The Mitsubishi L200 is built for towing too. With its 3.5 tonne towing capacity you could say it is a towing supremo.

HISTORY OF THE Mitsubishi L200
Mitsubishi Motors first entered the pickup market in North America in September 1978 with the Mitsubishi Forte. When it was first produced, the Forte was Powered by a 1.6L engine. It delivered superior driving stability, suspension was by double wishbone with coil at the front and by leaf spring with rigid axle at the rear.
The second-generation model was introduced in 1986 for most markets. In Australia, this model launched in October 1986 as the low-cost Triton. In Japan however, the pickups were not sold until a few years afterward.
In 1996, a new generation model was introduced with 2.5-liter turbo diesel engines developing 103 hp. Other engine options include two sixteen-valve fuel injected petrol engines and a naturally aspirated diesel. Production of this ended in 2006.
In 2014, Mitsubishi unveiled their all new L200 pick-up, which went on sale in early 2015. It is powered by a new 2.4-litre diesel engine. The Triton was refreshed for the 2019 model year. The L200 has become an extremely popular vehicle.
