Mitsubishi returns to the UK market!

Mitsubishi Confirms UK Return!

Mitsubishi has confirmed that it will return to new-car sales in the United Kingdom in summer 2026, marking its first full re-entry into the market since 2021. The announcement has immediately sparked interest among pickup buyers, because Mitsubishi has stated that the L200 is under consideration, although not confirmed at this stage.

The L200 Is on the Shortlist, but Not Yet Approved

Speaking following today’s announcement, Mitsubishi confirmed that a number of models are being assessed for the UK market, and that the L200 is included in that group. The company was clear that it is not yet able to confirm which vehicles will form part of the returning line-up, and that further information will be shared before the end of the year.

Preparations for the Relaunch

Importer International Motors, known as IM Group, will manage Mitsubishi’s return. The company already oversees Mitsubishi’s UK aftersales operations and has more than one hundred authorised service locations across the country. Work is now under way to appoint new retail sites ahead of the 2026 relaunch.

Mitsubishi has stated that its returning models will reflect its traditional strengths, including four wheel drive engineering, off road capability and robust construction. These qualities are strongly associated with the L200, which is one reason it has become a talking point, even without confirmation.

The L200’s Background in the UK

The Mitsubishi L200 has a long history in the United Kingdom. For many years it was one of the country’s best known pickups, widely used by tradespeople, farmers, utility operators and private owners who required a dependable working vehicle.

Known for its toughness, towing ability and off road performance, the L200 built a reputation for durability that kept it popular right up until Mitsubishi withdrew from new-car sales in 2021. Even today, a large number of L200s remain in daily use, supported by the existing Mitsubishi aftersales network.

With a new generation already on sale in global markets, the timing of Mitsubishi’s return means that a UK reintroduction is possible, yet nothing has been decided.

What Happens Next

Mitsubishi has confirmed that:

  • More details will be released before the end of the year.
  • Model names and timings are not final, including the L200.
  • Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in summer 2026 once the line-up is confirmed.
  • New retail sites are being appointed to support the relaunch.

December 2025 Update - Officially Confirmed

Mitsubishi has confirmed that it will return to the UK in summer 2026 with the latest generation of its popular L200 pick-up. The announcement was made in December 2025, confirming the L200 as a key part of Mitsubishi’s comeback to the UK, which is being managed by IM Group.
