Offering a unique take on the oval side step the Design steps are a more elegant and modern looking bar that also uses the latest in high quality materials to create a fantastic side step. Not only do the steps look fantastic but they also offer a degree of side protection from car park bumps and wayward supermarket trolleys.
Side steps provide you with a mid-point of contact between the ground and the vehicle making it easier to enter and exit larger 4x4's. They also give you easier access to the roof of the vehicle allowing you to easily attach roof rack systems and safely secure loads to the roof.
The bar itself is made in Italy from an oval stainless steel tubing which is slightly domed at either end. The tube is polished to give it a mirror like shine and allows the bar to match other stainless accessories manufactured by Mach such as the spoiler bar and rear protection bar. The tread of the bar is made from a soft neoprene rubber with a sanitized aluminium guard which offers a nice contrast to the polished stainless steel. The rubber used provides a superior footing compared to hard plastics of other steps but also gives a much nicer feel and finish compared to basic hard plastics.
Installation is simple and the bars come complete with the required brackets to mount to the vehicle as well as any fixing bolts needed. You also get a detailed set of fitting instructions in the pack but you can download a copy in pdf format using the link below.
We could use a cheap mild steel and then chrome plate it when manufacturing our bars but we don't.
Because after a year or so the bar would look unsightly when weeping rust stains appear.
In the iron/carbon mix chromium is also added that gives the steel its stainless qualities.
The chromium element stops the iron from oxidising and becoming rust (iron oxide).
Road salt used during European winters and sea salt, speed up rust formation and again gives us another good reason to use stainless steel here in the UK & in Europe where our products are sold.
Stainless steel can be exposed to the elements all year round and with a little polish now and again, can look as good as the day it came out of the packaging. This is the reason boat makers use stainless, and not mild steel.
Our stainless has a 3-year warranty, features a mirror polished chrome or black powder coated look (on some black finished items) but is in-fact more expensive, more durable, stainless steel.
