Mitsubishi have just unveiled the new Mitsubishi L200 Series 6, set to be released to 150 countries worldwide starting in Thailand on 17th November. The all-new L200 should reach UK shores by the end of summer 2019.
The new Mitsubishi L200 has a great new look, featuring the new Dynamic Shield front end design. The pickup gets newly sculpted body contours with contrasting sharp lines, extended wheel flares, and bright accents. The interior of the L200 has also been redone with a new high-quality look and feel.
There are two four-wheel drive systems available, Super-Select with 2WD, 4WD High, and 4WD Lo settings and Easy-Select with an additional full-time 4WD option. Both options offer Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand and Rock drive mode settings which alter the characteristics of the engine’s power delivery, transmission, braking, and traction control.
There is a 2.4-litre petrol engine available in some markets but it is likely that the only version available for most will be the 2.4-litre turbodiesel. The new L200 will deliver 78hp (133kW) at 3,500rpm and 430Nm of torque at 2,500rpm, the same as the current L200 does.
The 2019 L200 will have great off-road credentials with the double cab model boasting a 31-degree approach angle, 25-degree ramp-over, and 23-degree departure angle.
There will be a great range of safety and driver assistance systems available that have never appeared on previous L200 models. Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System, which reduces accidents resulting from improper use of the accelerator when moving off or reversing in car parks and other confined spaces.
More information with regards to pricing and specifications will be made available nearer to the European launch date. This is an important development for Mitsubishi and I know we are excited to see it arrive on UK shores next year.
