Exciting New Jeep Wrangler Pick-Up For The UK Market?

After more than 10 years the production of the Jeep Wrangler ‘JK’ at Jeep’s Ohio factory is ending in April 2018 to make way for the Wrangler pickup. Retooling has already taken place and they are already in production of the replacement JL generation Wrangler, of which a double cab pick-up variant has been developed.

Jeep hasn’t confirmed anything so at the moment details about the pickup are limited and most of the information is coming from shots of the vehicle which has heavy camouflage. The prototype that has been spotted is a four door, double cab version with a sizeable bed on the back – other versions could be in the works.

The Jeep pickup has been pushed back to autumn 2019 likely to benefit of the current success of the pickup market in the US. There is currently no word on pricing or whether a right-hand-drive version will be on offer. There is also talk there maybe a hybrid version in the works.

When the Wrangler pickup arrives, look for a naturally aspirated V6 under the hood. The turbo inline-four is likely, though smaller volumes could limit the truck’s engine choices. The upcoming turbo diesel is a possibility, too. Other details include suspension that takes a cue from Ram. Look for a full reveal in the next few months.

Expect more information at the new Jeep Wrangler launch later this year.

UPDATE: The new Jeep Pickup has now been revealed in full and you can find out all about it in our recent blog post, including the fact that it has now been named, the Jeep Gladiator.
